The Elite Women’s Boxing Tournament will take place from June 27 to July 1 at the Saroornagar Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad. Organized by the Telangana Boxing Association in collaboration with the Boxing Federation of India and the Sports Authority of Telangana, the tournament will feature some of the nation’s top female boxers, including both established champions and rising stars.

A total of 15 teams will compete, including the top 12 teams from the previous Elite Women’s National Championship, the host state team, and two special squads:

Each team can field one boxer per weight category, with no reserves allowed. The 10 official weight classes are:
45–48 kg, 48–51 kg, 51–54 kg, 54–57 kg, 57–60 kg, 60–65 kg, 65–70 kg, 70–75 kg, 75–80 kg, and +80 kg.
Competition Format and Rules
Each match will be fought in three rounds of three minutes with one-minute breaks between rounds. The ten-point must scoring system will be used. The tournament will follow World Boxing Technical & Competition Rules, and no review or challenge system will be in place.
Purpose and Significance
This tournament plays a key role in strengthening the national structure of women’s boxing in India. It provides a valuable opportunity for young talents to compete alongside and against some of the country’s most accomplished boxers. Additionally, the top two boxers (gold and silver medalists) in each category will be selected for the national training camp in Patiala, which serves as the gateway to international competition.
The event also acts as a second opportunity for elite boxers who missed previous national championships due to scheduling or logistical issues, ensuring a fair and competitive selection process.
Key Athletes to Watch
- Lovlina Borgohain – Olympic bronze medalist (Tokyo 2020) and World Champion in the 75 kg category
- Nikhat Zareen – Two-time World Champion (50–51 kg), and gold medalist at the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games
- Ankushita Boro, Manisha Moun, Preeti Pawar, and Arundhati Chaudhary – All experienced boxers with strong performances at youth and senior levels
